La Tana del Drago - J.R.R. Tolkien study centre

The ‘Tana del Drago’ (Dragon’s Den) is the world’s first study centre dedicated to J.R.R. Tolkien, author of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Close collaboration with the Italian Association of Tolkien Studies has given Dozza something truly unique: a study centre dedicated to the Oxford professor - and father of fantasy literature - John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, modelled on British and American universities.

From a tourism-cultural standpoint the Study Centre is a key investment as the Association has contacts with societies and universities throughout Europe. The ‘Tana del Drago’ seeks to elevate the sword and sorcery genre and make materials from Tolkien-related studies available to researchers and younger generations so they can deepen their understanding of fantasy literature, but also organise games, collectors’ exhibitions and artistic events.
