Posted on 15 December 2023
The Alidosi route showcases the historical highlights of Castel del Rio Town Centre: starting at Palazzo Alidosi, the Townhall that houses the interesting Museum of the War and the Gothic Line, continue onto Piazza Repubblica and the church of Sant’Ambrogio, the patron saint. Next stop are the picturesque stone houses and charming views of Vicolo Voltone at the back of the square.
From here, walk uphill on Via 4 Novembre up to Strada Montanara and follow the path that goes down a few dozen metres towards the town centre, then uphill again at Percorso Righini to reach Via Giovannini. From here, it’s back again towards the town centre, across Rio Ambrogini into Via A. Moro, joining Via 2 Giugno and then back onto Strada Montanara. From here, walk towards the square to reach the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Sudore; Vicolo Fontana and finally down to via Ponte Alidosi. Follow the road all the way to the majestic 16th-century Alidosi bridge, a powerful symbol of Castel del Rio.
