Description
To pass through the gates of the Bacci-Ruffo Estate is to enter a place where history, nature and tradition blend together to create an atmosphere of rare charm. Nestled in the tranquillity of the countryside around Castel San Pietro Terme, the estate is a significant agricultural and property complex comprising extensive grounds, a historic manor house and the Church of San Lorenzo di Gallo Bolognese, whose origins date back to the 17th century.
The property is a typical noble country residence, chosen by the Bacci family and later by the Ruffo della Scaletta family as their summer home. Surrounded by a vast English-style park, the villa still retains the understated charm of ancient aristocratic residences, set amongst the greenery and far removed from the hustle and bustle of city life.
During the guided tour, you will have the opportunity to explore a place not normally open to the public, discovering its history, architecture and the stories of the families who have lived there over the centuries. The tour will also provide an insight into the valuable restoration work championed by Princess Ruffo della Scaletta who, in 1950, following the wartime damage suffered by the property, had the villa and the church restored, returning them to their former splendour.
The guided tour is part of the “A journey among Villas and Castles” series.
