Discover the beauty of nature just outside the city with eXtraDiverdeinverde, the spin-off event leading up to the famous Diverdeinverde festival in Bologna.

From 1 to 3 May 2026, three exclusive events will take you on a journey of discovery through historic gardens, botanical gardens and spectacular blooms in the heart of the metropolitan city of Bologna.

A trip out of town ahead of Diverdeinverde, combining history, botany and rolling countryside, perfect for lovers of greenery and historic homes.

Organised by eXtraBo in collaboration with the IU Rusconi Ghigi Foundation.

1 May, 4.00 pm (duration 1 hour 30 minutes): The hidden gardens of San Giovanni in Persiceto 

Gates and entrances opening onto centuries-old parks and botanical gardens

2 May, 10.30 am (duration 1 hour 15 mins): Villa La Riniera: The Peony Garden (Castel San Pietro Terme) 

The enchantment of thousands of peonies in bloom against the backdrop of a 16th-century residence

3 May, 10.30 am (duration 2 hours): Visit to the Nova Arbora Botanical Garden (Sasso Marconi) 

A journey through edible herbs and alchemical plants (with a small tasting at the end!)
