The Regional Centre of Child Friendly Cities was established on 1st September 1999, coinciding with the 180th anniversary of the founding of Castel San Pietro (1199).
The purpose of the Regional Centre is to improve the quality of urban spaces and everyday life of children.
In addition, it aims to promote the development by the municipal authorities, policies to organize the city in relation to children and adolescents.
In late October 2000, the municipality of Castel San Pietro Terme hosted the fourth edition of the National Conference of the RACs (council of the boys), which was attended by over 500 young directors.
