The Museum of the material culture of Tossignano was formed in 1999 following the donation of the collection of Valter Mita, collected during the last thirty years, composed by objects from the valley of the Santerno and the plain of Bologna.
The main purpose of the museum is to preserve and pass on the memory of the material culture of a region placed at the junction of the river Santerno and the Vena del Gesso.
In addition to tools for working the land, tools for processing domestic product of the country, are exposed the tools for spinning and weaving, artifacts related to the cycle of wine, craft tools, objects for the collection gravel from the river and for the extraction of gypsum.
The museum is situated in the Baronial Palace, originally the residence of the feudal Altemps.
The palace was rebuilt after the ravages of war, has been recently renovated and is intended to museum purposes.
