The inhabitants of Castel San Pietro at the Crusades

Only 13 people from Castel San pietro decided to enroll as an answer to the call to take part in an expedition for the liberation of the Holy Land.

The fact is witnessed by a chronicle, which has reached our times, describing the proselytizing work of a monk who reached the town around 1450 to make converts.
But maybe the preacher wasn't too convincing or perhaps the inhabitants of Castel San Pietro were busy in other things: what is sure is that only 13 people answered the call, among these one Antonio Fabbri that left for the Holy Land with his comrades whilst the Angelus bells rang to make the situation solemn and as a petition of grace and protection for those audacious taking part in this bold enterprise.
Nothing is known, however, about the results of the expetidition or the fate of the 13 audacious crusaders.
