It seems that at peak of the French Revolution brotherliness wasn't the rule even here.

Actually, in 1792 heated controversies arose between the inhabitants of Poggio and the authorities of Castel San Pietro which were guilty, according to the inhabitants of Poggio, of levying too heavy taxes for services they didn't benefit from.
Historical chronicles show clearly that the inhabitants of Poggio had undoubtedly to pay the same taxes paid by the inhabitants of Castel san Pietro, but that they had surely inferior services.
The inhabitants of Poggio accused the physician and the surgeon, for which they paid 550 liras every year without even seeing them; the same happened about the school teacher working in Castel San Pietro, forcing the children to long walks.
The last straw was the installation of a bell-clock inside the castle: also in this case the inhabitants of Castel San Pietro benefitted from the service, whereas the inhabitants of Poggio couldn't even hear the sound of the bell.
Things were made even worse by the argument about the state of the roads, verry poorly kept, about which it seems the authorities of castello didn't care very much.
In 1792 the inhabitants of Poggio decided to say "enough!" about this situation and to complain about the abuses of power that, in their minds, the authorities of Castel San Pietro were committing against them, and showed all their anger before the authorities of the time.
