The church dates back to eighth or ninth century.
In the Middle Age, it was the seat of the Parish church of the whole area up to the year one thousand.
Due to the silting up of the area, the church, as it was constantly submerged, was raised in several times, until the last increase occurred in the early years of the eighteenth century.
Under the current floor are still visible arches and pillars of the previous constructions.
It also presents a simple facade, opened by a single door, plastered and painted.
It is flanked by a simple bell tower with sloping tiles.

The interior has three chapels and is covered by an interesting vault in large ribs.
Inside the sacristy, there is a plaque in the wall, with a curious inscription, of unknown time.
