S. Croce Parish church in Portonovo

The church dates back to 1730.
It was designed by Alfonso Torreggiani and built from the ground as all the buildings of the town of Portonovo, which was the center of the ancient farm Partecipanza of Medicine, extinct at the end of the nineteenth century.
It comes with a front gabled, simple but elegant.
On the back stands the bell tower with octagonal pyramidal spire.

The interior has a single nave, elegant and harmonious, eighteenth-century style.
The apse is flat and extends to the sides of the aisle, with two chapels.
Is always within the framework of the exaltation of the Cross of St. Michael who casts out demons (the work of Hercules Lalli, 1730), a large painting by G. B. Bolognini representing St. Lucia, the patron saint of Community of Medicina and Partecipanza (XVII), a St. Jerome century XVII.
In the chancel is also a wooden altar of the eighteenth century (the work of Lombard author) and a valuable positive organ by Domenico Gentile from Medicina.

Address: Via Portonovo, 356 Loc. Portonovo - 40059 Medicina (BO)
