St. Francis's Church and Monastery

The church is 1 km far from Mordano.

It was built on the ruins of an elder church dedicated to St. Anastasio.

Emperor Frederick I spent some time in this church in January 1177.

The Benedictine monks abandoned it perhaps in the 13th century.

In 1478 the Friars Minor transformed the old church of St. Anastasio into a new convent.

In 1635, following the Papal bull of Innocent X, the only building left was the Monastery of St. Francis.
