Town clock tower

The clock tower rises at the junction between Via Libertà, Medicina's main road, and Via Cavallotti.

The tower is part of the ancient Palazzo del Podestà (the mayor's residence), restored in the 19th century.

The lower part of the tower (up to the first cornice) dates back to the 16th century while the upper part, with the bell tower surmounted by merlons, was built in the 18th century.
On its northern side there is an interesting 17th century clock-face in Faenza's majolica divided into 24 hours.

A niche houses a terracotta statue of the Virgin of the Rosary, sculpted by Angelo Piò in the 18th century. On the same side, a tablet reads the verses of Dante Alighieri dedicated to Pier da Medicina in his Divine Comedy.
