Mengoni Museum

 

The museum is dedicated to the architect Giuseppe Mengoni, born on November 23rd, 1829 in Fontanelice.

He designed Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan and the Palace of the Savings Bank headquarters in Bologna.

Located in the former palace of Public Fontanelice in Piazza Roma, now also home to the new library, the archival collection contains 1637 documents, or planning to support them.
Donated in 1961 by heirs of the illustrious architect, the contents of the archive has been the subject of conservation works thanks to the Culture Office of the Province of Bologna and the Institute of Cultural Heritage of the Emilia Romagna.

The material consists of drawings, writings, records, folders, boxes and photographs, entirely microfilmed. It is available to visitors and by arrangement with the staff of the archive.

How to get to Fontanelice.

 

Follow Corso Europa (via Montanara), take the first on the right (via Mengoni) and go straight until Piazza Roma.

A public parking and a bus stop (n° 141) are available.
