Church of Our Lady of the Assumption

The Church of Our Lady of the Assumption is near the Fortress.

It was built in the 12th century on the ruins of an older Romanesque-Byzantine church.

Some evidence is left in the internal and external façade of the church and in the chapel of the baptismal font.

The font is stone-made and features some well-made bas-reliefs depicting the Baptism of Jesus, the four Evangelists and three Biblical scenes.

The apse behind the high altar houses "The Assumption of the Virgin", probably painted by Tiburzio Passerotti in the 16th century.
The most important piece is a painting by Marco Palmezzano dating back to 1492. It depicts the Virgin Mary with the Child, St. John the Baptist and St. Margaret. The canvas is located above the door leading to the sacristy and is one of the masterpieces of Palmezzano, who completed his apprenticeship under Melozzo from Forlì.
A wing of the parsonage adjoining the Church houses the Parish Museum of Sacred Art "Don Polo".

The museum brings together a collection of valuable liturgical objects belonging to the Church of Dozza.
