The memorial to doctor Gaetano Conti hangs on a wall of the main entrance of the Municipal Palace and bears the inscription:
"MDCCXLIV (1849)
In honour of Doctor Gaetano Conti, who worked as a scientist in Bologna and other cities, but did not forget his birth town in his charitable will. He decided that the patients from his town would have a favourable treatment at the St. Orsola Hospital in Bologna; and he dedicated LX (60) scudi per year to help in his studies at the University of Bologna a young student, selected each time by the Bench of his town. In order to show its gratitude and praise for this noble example, the Municipality had this monument engraved."
The memorial was hung on the Doctor's death in 1844, to commemorate his fine action in favour of the young students of his town.
