The memorial stone was placed in 1996 on the occasion of a public celebration as a sign of remembrance for the battle fought on December 12th 1994 by allied units against a battalion of German paratroopers on the front of the Gothic Line. That battle allowed the allied forces to keep their conquered positions, that would then be of strategical importance to win the war.
The stone has a rectangular parallelepiped shape.
It bears the inscription:
"On these mountains, during the Italian campaign, on December 12th 1944the troops of the 1st Battalion, Regiment Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, of the 3rd Battalion, 8th Reggimento Punjab, of the 6th Royal Battalion (SCINDE), of the 13th Frontier Force Rifles, drove back the attacks of the 1st German Paratrooper Division and notwithstanding the losses, maintained their positions.

How to get to Castel San Pietro Terme
The memorial stone can be reached running along Via Viara, along Sillaro River, and taking a right turn on Via Montecerere, past S. Martino in Pedriolo locality.
Then proceed for approximately 6km towards Montecalderaro.
Every year, on the occasion of the commemorative celebrations of April 25th, a laurel wreath is placed at the foot of the stone as a sign of remembrance for these events.
