Case Gazzano memorial stone is located in the courtyard of the farmhouse where a cruel battle took place on April 19th 1945, at the end of Second World War.
The stone has a pyramid trunk shape with a squared basis, whereas on the wall of the house hangs a memorial with the name of the 34 soldiers who died in that battle.
It was placed in 1946 on the occasion of the first anniversary of the battle, as a sign of remembrance for the battle fought on December 12th 1944 by allied units against a battalion of German paratroopers on the front of the Gothic Line. This allowed the allied forces to keep their conquered positions, that would then be strategically very important for the good result of the war.

How to get to Castel San Pietro Terme
The memorial stone can be reached running along Via Emilia until reaching Gallo locality.
Then turn to Via Malvezza following the signs to Casalecchio dei Conti. Once you reach the village, follow the specific signs to reach the monument, which is located in the courtyard of the house around which the events took place.
Recurrent celebrations: every year, on the occasion of the commemorative celebrations of April 25th, a laurel wreath is placed at the foot of the stone as a sign of remembrance for these events.
