Bridge upon Sillaro
Castel San Pietro Terme territory is crossed by via Emilia, the consular road which crosses the whole region, built by Romans in order to extend and colonise their empire.
One of their original handmade works is the Bridge upon Sillaro, where have been found a couple of huge mile posts dating back to the first setting of via Emilia by Marco Emilio Lepido, some stone blocks belonging to the monumental bridge on the consular road, restored in 100 A.D. according to the will of emperor Traiano.
These remains testify the importance of this place in the historic itinerary since the first centuries A.D.
The bridge has not been damaged in the centuries by atmospheric and war events.

The Bridge upon Sillaro is outside the town, going along via Emilia towards Imola.

Until Second World War on via Emilia route still existed the first arcades of the bridges which crossed Gaiana and Quaderna Streams.
They did not have the same chance as Bridge upon Sillaro had because they have been mined and blown up.
At present we have some important documents consisting in old photographs and archive documents.
