Clock tower

The clock tower stands above the Cassero. The first reliable information dates back to the 14th century. According to Gurrieri, initially the tower had neither a dome nor bells because it was used to send fire signals in wartime. The towers of the nearby villages and hamlets, especially those located on the foothills, created a quick communication system with the city of Bologna, which at the time controlled Castel San Pietro. In 1784 a clock and a few bells were added to the tower.
