The church of S. Maria was quoted in the years 1300 and 1366. In 1378 the church of S. Mamante, was remembered, too.
In 1544 the two names were combined, and finally the name of S. Mamante prevailed, which is still the patron saint of the locality.
From miles away, you can see the present church erected at the end of 18th century.
Bombings in World War II brutally ruined the church. It was rebuilt with the same features as the will of the citizens and the pastor.
The only sacred image that was saved is the statue of St. Mamante, probably built in the school of Piò.
