The church was built in 1578, renovated in 1831 and designed by F. Gibelli and is dedicated to St. Antonio Abate.
In 1913 he became parish seat, in the years 1938-40 was enlarged and in 1952 was equipped with a bell tower designed by G. Coccolini.
Gaiana was heavily involved in the events of the Second World War, with heavy fighting, especially in the days before the Liberation. At that time, the church was ruined and was lost under the altar with the Madonna and St. Anthony Abbot, with Dominic and Catherine Mysteries around, under which was attributed to the school of the Carracci: was replaced by S. Antonio Abate G. Natali.

How to get to Castel San Pietro Terme
Take Via San Carlo towards Medicina until Poggio Piccolo. Turn left at the roundabout and drive along the Stradelli Guelfi for one kilometre. Then turn right following the sign-roads for Gaiana.
