The Institute was built in 1850 when Father Luigi Grandi gave hospitality to two poor children with the help of a teacher.
The Sisters of Charity established an orphanage and had the building enlarged. When the nuns were no longer able to run the Institute, the nursery and the elementary school were transferred in bailment to the Parish of Castel San Pietro Terme.
