Via Selice

Via Selice, of Roman origins, had a fundamental function, as it linked Imola to the sea, which once was closer.

Appio Claudio, commander of the Roman militiae of Silla, ordered the construction of this street, almost 15 miles long, and had it paved with flintstones (selci), from which comes its name.

It ended at Captus Silicis, today called Conselice.
