The church is part of the nearby convent of the Clare Nuns.
The complex dates back to 1359 and in the past it was a famous convent school for wealthy girls.
The church was rebuilt at the end of the 18th century on project of Cosimo Morelli by Domenico and Pietro Petrocchi.
All of the stucco-work in the inside were made by Domenico Trifogli.

How to get to Imola
From the tollgate follow the directions to the town centre and then those for the Musei-Pinacoteca (the art gallery). Once you reach the Pinacoteca continue along Via Cavour until the civic number indicated.
From the railway station go towards the centre and after the second traffic-light turn into the second street on the right, Via Cavour. You'll find the church on the right.
The convent, restored in 1975, still hosts the community of the Clare Nuns, the only cloistered left in Imola.
