Palazzo della Volpe (Albergo El Cappello)

This building was an elegant hotel during the governing rule of the Riario-Sforza lordship. Girolamo Riario had it built in 1480. It later became the residence of the Della Volpe family.

It is an imposing building with a central courtyard.

The first floor was used as residence while the ground floor accommodated stables and services.
The main façade overlooking the Via Emilia is decorated with terracotta cornices. The entrance of Via Orsini was designed for carriages.

The courtyard stands out for its four Gothic arches and the upper loggia with sandstone columns and capitals.
