This pharmacy can be considered an example of late 18th century "bottega" (shop). It was opened in 1774. Here stood the Hospital of St. Francesco run by the Franciscan Tertiaries which was later transformed into a private residence. 

The pharmacy's vault was decorated by Angelo Gottarelli and Alessandro Della Nave. These decorations portray the virtues of medicine and the revitalising strength of nature.
The upper part of the walls in the pharmacy's bottom is embellished by six statues in distempered terracotta by Ballanti and Graziani, two painters by Faenza.
On the wooden shelves is a collection of 457 majolica vases used to contain medicinal substances. They were manufactured in Imola in the second half of the 18th century and their tablets are painted in blue against a white backdrop.
